Rochester, the CEO and founder of Harlem Cycle, is on a mission to help her listeners get fit and stay fit in the most holistic ways possible. In her new podcast, she will explore fitness, nutrition and mental and emotional health, all while debunking all the myths and stereotypes of what it means to be fit. By interviewing celebrities and wellness experts, Rochester will introduce home exercises and activities that can help her listeners better understand how to redefine and reset their health.
In the first episode, Rochester shares her motivation in starting Harlem Cycle, Manhattan’s first dedicated cycling studio north of 92nd Street, and how her personal wellness journey began at a young age. Struggling with body image issues and burdened by a lack of knowledge, Rochester transitioned from running to step class to indoor cycling, all the while seeking expert guidance on maintaining a healthy balance. Emphasizing the significance of breaking myths, she introduces her show “Wellness Redefined,” promising to provide expert advice and debunk common misconceptions about health and wellness.
The first guest on “Wellness Redefined” is Jahkeen Washington, a fitness coach and business owner based in Harlem. Washington discusses his journey from finance to fitness and the importance of strength training and nutrition in obtaining wellness. He also breaks down popular myths about weightlifting, particularly for women, and shares his thoughts on how to start a strength training routine. He touches on finding the right balance between cardio and strength training, and the need for personal coaches in a fitness journey to meet specific, individual needs.
“Wellness Redefined” will air every two weeks, inviting listeners to join Rochester on a shared journey to better health. Listen to the show's introduction below or wherever you get your podcasts.
