RASA Film Group (RASA) is proud to announce the launch of an exciting new film collective that is set to make a significant impact on the world of cinema. With four visionary partners on board, RASA is poised to support and elevate the next generation of storytellers and filmmakers. RASA is actively exploring projects featuring strong female protagonists, narratives centered around social justice and stories that portray Muslim characters in positive and empowering roles.
RASA is in talks with future projects involving talented Muslim and Pakistani women such as Aizzah Fatima ("Americanish," 2021), Mehreen Jabbar ("Farar"), Afia Nathaniel ("Dukhtar," 2014), Mahnoor Euceph ("Eid Mubarak," 2023) and Rehana Lew Mirza ("wishtree").
The four partners of RASA have demonstrated their commitment to the world of filmmaking, and their combined expertise and resources will ensure the success of this endeavor. Asad Butt is the founder and CEO of Rifelion Media, a film and podcast studio elevating diverse voices. He is the executive producer of the forthcoming “Ramadan America” film anthology and the award-winning “King of the World” podcast series. Butt is also a startup advisor and investor, primarily working with pet care and education founders, as well as accelerator programs.
Sujit Chawla has worked in and around the film industry for over 30 years, from local video stores to blockbuster Hollywood productions. He was a producer on the groundbreaking independent film “American Desi” (2001) and won awards for his short films. He now looks forward to working with new and upcoming filmmakers to help them achieve their visions of the future.
Rohi Mirza Pandya is an award-winning creative producer in film, television and theater for over 20 years. She is co-founder of Box Office Guru Media, Inc., a multicultural marketing agency, as well as a creative producer and Diversity, Equity, Inclusion and Belonging consultant (DEIB) for Desipina Productions. Mirza Pandya is one of the founders of the first ever South Asian House at SXSW and Tribeca festival in 2023. She also worked on the Oscar-qualified short film “Eid Mubarak,” which played at last year’s Red Sea International Film Festival.
With a “profit with a purpose” focus, Atul Prashar has invested in over 200 public and private tech-first companies in media, entertainment and sports, both individually and as founding partner of KMH Group. Embracing his previous work as a singer and music producer with many urban artists for a record label, hit TV shows on major networks, streaming platforms and two Bollywood films, Prashar has increasingly focused investing and advisory efforts towards global film projects that positively promote the South Asian diaspora.
RASA aims to support a wide range of cinematic projects, from independent films to major motion pictures, documentaries to animations. This collective is designed to empower creative individuals and filmmakers to bring their unique visions to life.
