Ramy Youssef’s new Amazon Animated Series “#1 Happy Family USA” Sets Cast

Ramy Youssef’s Amazon animated series “#1 Happy Family USA” has received a two-season order from Amazon Studios, and has set its main cast. Youssef, most known for his show “Ramy,” co-created the series with Pam Brady, and both will be executive producers along with journalist and illustrator Mona Chalabi, and Josh Rabinowitz.

The series will focus on a Muslim family navigating their life in the U.S. in the early 2000s. Youssef will voice Rumi Hussein, a 12-year-old boy with a big imagination, and Alia Shawkat will voice Mona Hussein, Rumi’s older sister and golden child of the family. Youssef will also voice Hussein Hussein, Rumi and Mona’s father, a former surgeon who now runs a halal food cart, and Salma Hindy will voice Sharia Hussein, Rumi and Mona’s mother, who has made her life’s mission to raise a good family.

The voice cast will also feature Mandy Moore as Rumi’s sixth-grade teacher Mrs. Malcolm, and Chris Redd as Marcus, Rumi’s best friend.

The series has no set release date yet. Read more about the cast here.
