Family ties or family lies? That is the question that “Power Book III: Raising Kanan” aims to answer this December.

"Power Book III: Raising Kanan" (2021 – ) is set to have its third season premiere on Dec. 1. New episodes will be released weekly on Fridays at midnight EST on the Starz app and all Starz streaming platforms, with a linear debut at 8 p.m. EST/PST in the U.S. and Canada.

“Power Book III: Raising Kanan” was created by Sascha Penn and debuted in 2021 on Starz. The crime drama is a prequel to “Power” (2014 – 2020) and the second of three spin-offs in the overall “Power” franchise. The story is set in the 1990s, following the early years of Kanan Stark, who was a mentor-turned-rival to “Power” protagonist Ghost. Kanan Stark was first played by franchise executive producer, Curtis "50 Cent" Jackson, and is portrayed in the prequel by Mekai Curtis.

This season of “Power Book III: Raising Kanan” continues to follow Kanan Stark's rise to power, transitioning from the devoted son of drug lord Raquel Thomas (Patina Miller) to the universally feared crime boss he is in “Power.” The story resumes in Southside Jamaica Queens after the Mob makes a coordinated attack on the Thomas family. The near-miss has Raquel seeking a fresh start, but Kanan remains skeptical, not quite believing her when she says she’s done dealing. The trailer hints at hidden truths, the return of Italian mob boss Stefano (Tony Danza), and new adversaries "Snaps" (Wendell Pierce) and "Pop" (Erika Woods).

The cast of “Power Book III: Raising Kanan” also includes Muslim American rapper and actor Omar Epps as Detective Malcolm Howard, as well as Hailey Kilgore as Jukebox, Joey Bada$$ as Unique, Shanley Caswell as Detective Burke and Antonio Ortiz as Famous, with Grantham Coleman and Paul Yen joining the cast as Ronnie and Quân respectively this season.
