Out Now: “5000 Blankets,” a Family Movie Based On Real Events

“5000 Blankets,” a drama about family, faith and housing insecurity, has been shown in over 800 theaters across the country and is now streaming. The film is based on the real life story of Cyndi Bunch who, along with her five-year-old son, begins searching the streets of Fort Worth after her husband suffers a mental breakdown and disappears. In their quest they come to know and eventually aid the homeless community there.

The movie is directed by Jordanian American Amin Matalqa, also the director of Disney’s first Arabic film, “The United,” and the Sundance World Cinema Audience Award winner “Captain Abu Raed,” among other projects. Find out more about Matalqa and listen to theoriginal soundtrack on Amin’s website.
