The filmmakers say that "Group C" was largely inspired by uncertainty caused by the 2023 WGA and SAG-AFTRA strikes.

Muslim filmmaker Imran J. Khan teamed up with filmmaker Kunal Dudheker to drop a teaser trailer for their latest project, a short film called “Group C.” Khan served as director and editor on the project, while Dudheker wrote, produced and starred in the film.

“Group C” follows Naveen (Dudheker), a timid family man yearning to find his voice who stumbles upon a mysterious support group that employs unconventional preschool activities to boost his confidence … until playtime gets dark. While the trailer asks many more questions than it answers, it definitively has a whimsical yet unsettling tone.

The filmmakers both took to social media to talk about the project. In a post where Dudheker shared the teaser trailer, he called “Group C” a passion project that he and Khan made last year. “I truly enjoyed making [‘Group C’] from start to finish thanks to a seamless collab [with] super director [Imran J. Khan] and an amazing cast and crew that I was lucky to work with,” Dudheker said.

In Khan’s post sharing the trailer, he spoke more about the film’s inspiration. “I'm so glad [Kunal Dudheker] trusted me with his wonderful script, ‘Group C.’ During the [Writers Guild of America and SAG-AFTRA strikes], everything felt chaotic and uncertain and so we channeled that energy into this little film.”

Khan recently made headlines when his feature debut, the 2023 SXSW Audience Award winning "Mustache" (2023), was joined by Riz Ahmed and his production company Left Handed Films. Dudheker is a comic and actor who has performed roles in "Shang-Chi and the Legend of the Ten Rings" (2021) and "Silicon Valley" (2014–2019), to name a few.

While an official release has not been announced, Khan and Dudheker both say that “Group C” is coming soon.
