Gen Z Podcast “Banterly” Launches Exciting First Episode
The new podcast dissects the latest TikTok trends, contemporary films and TV shows through cultural critique and media analysis from an unfiltered and socially conscious Gen Z perspective.
The first episode of "Banterly," a conversational pop culture podcast featuring two Gen Z hosts, launched today. Co-hosted by Aditi Misra and Aidan Taylor, “Banterly” dissects the latest TikTok trends, contemporary films and TV shows through cultural critique and media analysis from an unfiltered and socially conscious Gen Z perspective.
According to its official description, “Banterly” is a fun, conversational-style podcast that dissects contemporary films and TV shows to explore the many exciting, thought-provoking … and sometimes problematic elements of pop culture that many binge on a daily basis. Featuring two Gen Z co-hosts, “Banterly” is not just reviewing your next movie or TV show recommendation. Instead, its hosts dive into media, discussing their nuances and grappling with the trends of present-day media — all through a comedic lens.
In the premiere of “Banterly” — titled “Guess What? Gen Z is Having Sex Now” — co-hosts Misra and Taylor discuss the evolving landscape of sex positivity and sexual education in shows like “Sex Education” (2019–2-23) and “Sex Lives of College Girls” (2021–). They banter about topics ranging from Zillow stalking, ASMR dental videos and the controversy surrounding Mindy Kaling — all through the lens of Gen Z.
“Banterly” is currently showcased as part of Apple Podcasts’ “New and Noteworthy” curation at the time of its launch. The show is the first of several highly anticipated podcasts slated for 2024 from Immigrantly Media, a forward-thinking media company that specializes in authentic and unvarnished storytelling to redefine the immigrant narrative. In addition to “Banterly,” two new Immigrantly podcasts are currently in development and set to launch in 2024.
Aside from “Banterly,” Immigrantly Media currently comprises two podcasts including its flagship podcast, "Immigrantly," and an investigative true crime podcast, "Invisible Hate," in collaboration with Rifelion Media. Funding for “Banterly” is supported by American Public Media Group (APMG), whose investment will be allocated toward innovative storytelling ventures, content licensing initiatives and additional podcasts at Immigrantly Media.
“Banterly” is produced by Shei Yu with executive producer Saadia Khan. Scripted by Michaela Strauther, Aditi Misra and Aidan Taylor. Audio editing and sound design by Steve Martin. Theme music by Simon Hutchinson; other music by Epidemic Sound.
