Shaheen Academy, the subject of the documentary, is a nonprofit that aims to help at-risk youth break the cycle of poverty.

Bashir Ahmad, the Pakistani American professional mixed martial artist known for being a pioneer of mixed martial arts in the country, founded a non-profit MMA gym called Shaheen Academy and tutoring center in Lahore, Pakistan in 2015. This September, the story of the children who train at Shaheen Academy, will be shown in a documentary from VICE Media. The documentary is titled "Kids Fight" (2023).

The documentary will join other documentaries from around the world in VICE Media founder Suroosh Alvi’s Short List. The Short List spotlights documentaries from around the world and unpacks the journey of the filmmakers as they create their stories. Bashir Ahmad announced the documentary on Instagram, saying, “Those who have followed me long enough know that I am very proud and grateful of my non-profit in Pakistan Shaheen Academy. Free for the children of the slum, after school tuition and educational sponsorships come along with real MMA training. After over 6 years of filming, VICE Media will be showcasing a documentary about the story of the Academy.”
