Despite the game’s mixed reception, praise for Fazal’s performance as Diana Prince has been overwhelmingly positive.
Applications Reopened for Pillars Artist Fellowship
The Fellowship will offer mentorship, networking opportunities and monetary support to 10 Muslim directors and screenwriters living in the U.S. or U.K.
After a five-month hiatus due to the Writers Guild of America strike, the Pillars Artist Fellowship has announced that applications have reopened for their second cohort of Pillars Artist Fellows.
The Fellowship is a partnership with Oscar and Emmy Award-winning actor Riz Ahmed and Left Handed Films, and is sponsored by Netflix and Amazon MGM Studios. It offers mentorship, networking and monetary support to 10 Muslim directors and screenwriters living in the U.S. or U.K. The Pillars Fund platforms Muslim artists as the past, present and future of entertainment. It aims to invest in storytellers who tell joyful, honest stories about their communities.
The following applicants are encouraged to apply to the fellowship. Potential Fellows must be directors or screenwriters who identify as Muslim and live in the U.S. or U.K. Additionally, applicants must be adults 18-years-old or older. The Pillars Fund is most specifically looking for emerging artists who meet 1-3 of the criteria listed below:
- Has an agent or manager
- Has directed a short or feature in the past 5 years
- Has won a screenwriting award in the past 5 years
- Has participated in another lab/fellowship in the past 5 years
- Is a member of a professional guild or organization
- Has staffed on a television show or received a writing credit on a film
- Has worked as an assistant in the entertainment industry for 2+ years
- Has worked in another field in the entertainment industry for 2+ years
The Pillars Artist Fellows will receive several exciting benefits as part of the Fellowship. First and foremost is an unrestricted award of $25,000. The Fellows will also receive accommodations and airfare paid for several in-person networking retreats that aim to provide opportunities to learn, connect and create with a peer group of fellow Muslim artists. Perhaps most valuable, though, is the Fellows’ opportunity for one-on-one mentorship, professional development in the entertainment field and access to a highly acclaimed advisory committee of award-winning actors, directors, producers and writers.
The new deadline to apply is Oct. 31 at 5 p.m. Central Daylight Time. For more information on the selection process, refer to the link here.
